Did you know products as diverse as lipstick, bubble gum, plastic, paints, resins, and even candles have something in common? They all have oil derivatives, such as paraffin and naphtha, in their composition.
Paraffin, for example, is part of products such as wax, cosmetics, packages, matches, water-proofing products, and even fabrics.
We obtain first and second-generation products with naphtha. Based on a process called cracking, naphtha is decomposed and generates ethane, propene, and aromatics. These first generation products are used to produce resins, which compose the second generation.
We develop new technologies for the chemical industry constantly and enhance our performance to obtain these products.
With petrochemicals, we seek to diversify our product portfolio and to add value to oil and natural gas.
We consider petrochemicals as a strategic segment and have been buttressing our performance in the sector. We have boosted our presence in Brazil and in Latin America in an integrated manner with our remaining businesses.
We invest in several projects in the sector, such as, for example, the Rio de Janeiro Petrochemical Complex (Comperj), Petroquímica Paulínia, and the Companhia Petroquímica de Pernambuco.
