Therefore, we developed a guide to assist users with disabilities
to have the best possible browsing experience on the Petrobras site.
The items considered herein are based on the recommendations set forth in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0)
of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
This statement covers the pages of the petrobras.com.br website.
Current points of attention.
Browsing was built to attain a simple flow, either via the mouse or the keyboard. To this end, several tests and studies were made to make sure there would be no interference with user actions and in understanding.
The portal contains some invisible links which can only be accessed via the keyboard in order to improve accessibility for users who browse with screen readers or who have some other limitation.
The functionality of these links is divided into two categories:
Users who browse the portal using the keyboard can easily reach the main content or other areas of the viewed page. Simply access the invisible links of shortcuts to specific areas of the site.
These links become visible when accessed by keyboard, by tabbing, for example. For those who use screen readers, these are common links with no distinction in their use compared to any other link on the page.
The invisible links to shortcuts on the portal are:
Takes the user to the main content of the page;
Takes the user to the portal's main menu;
Takes the user to the section's menu;
The user returns to the portal's browsing from the "Global Petrobras" link.
These links take the user to the content that is accessible from screen readers, which might be content that is alternative to multimedia features, graphics, etc.
The invisible links to alternative content on the portal are:
Takes the user to the same page, but with accessible content. It is always positioned before the inaccessible content.
This link is always positioned after an image that needs to be described in detail.
The text varies according to the content (in the case of a graph, for example, the text is "Graphic in text format").
After entering a page that has alternative content on it, the user will browse all pages in the "Accessible Mode" and does not need to choose this option for each Graphic or Multimedia presentation.
If you would like to return to the original content, simply click the "back to the original version", link, which is available on such pages.
If this feature does not work, make sure your browser is enabled for cookies. If in doubt, check your browser's help.
Whenever possible, videos on the portal are subtitled. To enable the subtitles, simply click on this option in the video player.
If the user is browsing in the "accessible mode" or with Javascript disabled, or if the user does not have Adobe Flash Player installed yet (such as in the case of mobile phone technologies, for example), whenever possible, video content transcripts will be available.
The portal has some extra features that use Javascript to enhance the users' experience. Such features can, however, make it more difficult for users using assistive technologies to access such features. We have made all efforts to treat each situation in order to overcome these difficulties.
However, the user may still have access to all content, even without Javascript enabled in their browsers.
