We have been signatories of the UN Global Compact since 2003, and since 2006 we have been the only Latin American company on its International Board. In Brazil, we are on the Brazilian Committee of the Global Compact, holding the corporate vice-chairmanship also since 2006. As a result, we started giving our social and environmental responsibility actions more international visibility, boosting our contribution to disseminating the best practices in these segments.
The Global Compact is based on transparency and on encouraging companies, the work force, and the civil society to begin and share actions aimed at practicing the Principles it is based on, without acting as a corporate regulators or inspectors.
By joining, we commit to issuing a statement of support for the Pact, divulging it among our employees, shareholders, customers and vendors. Additionally, we have integrated the 10 principles in our corporate development program and in our mission's declaration; we also included the commitment to the Pact in our Annual Report and in other documents.
