Driving Sports

Sports represent challenges, perspiration, hard work, and achievements. They are an ideal that challenges not only athletes, but the daily activities at our company too.

To Petrobras, encouraging sports is driving society and renewing the team spirit among Brazilians.

We have been a part of the history of Brazilian sports ever since 1956, when our logo was showcased in the first Brazilian Thousand Mile auto race. Our presence became more solid as of the 1980's, when we started endorsing the Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, a partnership that lasted 24 years.

As of the 1990's, we began using auto competitions not only to showcase the Petrobras brand, but as a laboratory to develop products such as lubricants and fuels.

We made history in Formula 1, when we used high-tech gasoline our scientists designed to optimize engine performance. Other projects came about, as did many competitions and adventures.

We currently operate in two segments, motor sports and high-performance sports through three programs: the Petrobras Motor Sports Program, the Petrobras High-Performance Sports Program, and the Petrobras Sports & Citizenship Program.

Petrobras Builders Cup

The Petrobras Builders Cup revives the competition among factory models of several carmakers, and several major makes that have operations in Brazil take part in it. In addition to being the Cup's main sponsor, we are also the official supplier of Podium gasoline and Lubrax lubricant, testing and developing the very same products that are marketed at Petrobras service stations and used by consumers on a daily basis.

Petrobras and Football

Football is the most popular sport in Brazil. With this in mind, Petrobras supports the sport by sponsoring the "Série A," the Major League of the Brazilian Championship; the Brazil Cup; and the Copa America championship.

We have been present in the Brazilian Championship since 2009. This is the biggest tournament and brings together the top 20 Brazilian teams. The following year, the company partnered with the Brazil Cup, the largest nationwide competition that brings together all Brazilian states.

In 2011, the novelty was our sponsoring of the Copa America, the continent's most important tournament, bringing together teams from 12 countries. This year it was held between July 1 and 24, in Argentina.

    Our goal is to support the development of the Brazilian Olympic sports and contribute to democratize popular access to sports, including High-Performance Sports, Sport Education, Participation Sport, and Sport Memory. Learn more(available in Portuguese).

  • Petrobras' Motor Sports Program

    This program is directly related to the company's activities. Its main objective is to support auto racing/motorcycling through technological cooperation and/or by sponsoring events, including the supply of fuel and/or lubricants, using competitions as research and development labs for our products, which are tested and approved by those who use them under the harshest conditions.
