Oil is in our daily life, and it is
even in places we never could imagine: in the car's tires, in lipstick, bubble gum, in fuel.
Our activity has direct impact of society, and that is why we are always connected to it. Acting
with social and environmental responsibility, to us, is a commitment to people and
to the planet.
Petrobras' transparent performance generates acknowledgment: the good performance has kept the Company listed on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DSJI), the world's most important sustainability index, used as an analysis parameter of socially and environmentally responsible investors, for the sixth year in a row.
Our public selections are also a good example of our successfully interaction with society. In 2010, we invested R$ 707.9 million in 1,700 social, environmental, sporting, and cultural projects. These initiatives are assessed by specific commissions, and selected pursuant to widely announced criteria.
In our internal activities, we focus on increasing product and process eco-efficiency, aiming at reducing the consumption of natural resources and the impacts on the environment.
We believe it is only possible to secure the respect of the society if we preserve, first and foremost, the environment where people live, and if we contribute to improving quality of life in our country.
