Petrobras Lubrax Team achieves its best finish in the Dakar Rally

"There's no better way to celebrate 25 years of participations than with the full team in Lima," said André Azevedo, a driver who has raced in the Dakar Rally since 1988. In this edition, the team secured Brazil's best ever finish in the competition, with the truck coming in eighth place overall.

The rally started on January 1, in Mar Del Plata, Argentina, crossed through Chile, and ended on January 15 in Lima, Peru, after about nine thousand kilometers traveled.

Petrobras Lubrax Team's truck, manned by the André Azevedo/Maykel Justo/Mira Martinec trio, arrived at the Peruvian city of Lima on Sunday afternoon (Jan. 15), the last day of the Dakar Rally, and made a great feat: Brazil's best position ever in the competition, the eighth place overall.

The Petrobras Lubrax Team has many reasons to celebrate. Besides having achieved the best Brazilian result in all of the rally's categories, it arrived in Lima complete, with Denisio do Nascimento, among the bikes, and the Jean Azevedo/Emerson Bina Cavassin duo among the cars.

The figures of this edition of the Dakar Rally were proof positive of its high technical level, and it is bound to continue being one of the world's most difficult racing events. Of the 443 vehicles that started on January 1st, in the Argentine city of Mar Del Plata, only 249 made it all the way to the Peruvian capital.

Maykel Justo, the truck's navigator, was also excited. "In sum, it was a tough rally, so we are very pleased to have finished it placed so well," he said.
