We acquire 50% of biodiesel plant in Rio Grande do Sul

We have acquired 50% of the capital stock of BSBIOS Indústria e Comércio de Biodiesel Sul Brasil S.A. through its wholly-owned subsidiary Petrobras Biocombustível S.A. (Pbio).

The company, located in Passo Fundo (Rio Grande do Sul - RS), operates a biodiesel plant with integrated vegetable oil extraction unit and biodiesel production capacity of 160 million liters/year. It has a privileged location in terms of grain supply and biodiesel marketing, since it is sited next to a fuel distribution base and a railroad terminal for receiving grain and dispatching its output.

This acquisition consolidates our leading position in the domestic biofuels sector. It also represents a strengthening of the existing partnership between the companies at the Biodiesel Plant of Marialva (PR), which together with this new partnership with the Biodiesel Plant of Passo Fundo (RS), will form a new robust and competitive operation in the south of Brazil.

The transaction involves an outlay of approximately R$ 200 million, subject to adjustment depending on the outcome of the due diligence process.
