Petrobras Cinema Award

Petrobras Cinema Award
Petrobras Cinema Award

In 2017, we reinforced our support for culture with the launch of the Petrobras Cinema Awards together with three iconic film festivals that we sponsor: The Brasília Festival of Brazilian Cinema, the Rio Festival, and the São Paulo International Film Festival. Pursuant to pre-established categories and criteria, the award will support the best Brazilian films - evaluated by the festivals’ judges themselves - with contracts for commercial distribution in movie theaters.

In all, R$900,000 will be earmarked for six feature films, with prizes worth R$200,000 and R$100,000. The prizes worth R$200,000 will include the distribution of the film to at least 15 theaters and five cities during the first 90 days of commercial launch. The R$100,000 prizes, meanwhile, will ensure distribution to at least ten theaters and three cities during the first 90 days of commercial launch.

Project entries must be submitted directly to the festivals, which have their own regulations, are in charge of the feature film selection and evaluation processes, and are responsible for announcing their winners.
