Energy that feeds the industry and becomes flavor on your plate

We are part of your everyday life, whether in your kitchen or in the products you use. Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), also known as “cooking gas” or “canister gas”, is a fuel intended mainly for domestic and industrial use.

LPG is mainly composed of a mixture of hydrocarbons, containing three to four carbon atoms. And, although gaseous under Standard Temperature and Pressure (STP), it can be liquefied under compression or cooling, which optimizes transport and storage. Liquefied petroleum gas can be produced from refining processes or natural gas processing units (GPUs).

We produce and sell LPG to distribution companies with varied contents of hydrocarbons in its composition. The distribution companies, in turn, market the LPG for resellers or provide direct service to industries and commerce, being able to deliver in bulk or filled in canister of 2, 5, 8 or 13 kg and cylinders of 20, 45 or 90 kg.

Main applications

For residential and commercial use

  • Food cooking.
  • Water heating.

As industrial fuel

  • Generating heat for boilers, thermal cuts and industrial furnaces. Mainly used in processes where burning needs to be free of residues, such as in the ceramics, glass, food industry for drying grains, among others.

Principais aplicações

Petrobras LPG

Petrobras LPG was developed with technology to meet the strict quality requirements related to volatility, corrosivity and residue formation.

Its composition has variable proportions of propane/propene and butanes/butenes, which allows distribution companies to process and sell the gas directly as fuel.

As one of the main actors in the refining and production of LPGs, we market products to distribution companies that, in addition to meeting specifications, meet the highest standards of quality and safety, as well as specialized knowledge for technical guidance.

Main characteristics

Our LPG burns easily in the gaseous state, has excellent calorific value and promotes a more complete combustion, with lower formation of residues and soot. Consequently, it generates less pollutants and is a suitable option for applications where the final product cannot suffer contamination from the fuel burning process, such as food and ceramics.

High calorific value

Complete combustion, no soot forming

Ease of vaporization under environmental conditions

For added safety and when necessary, a sulfur-based odorant (usually ethyl mercaptan) is added to Petrobras LPG (domestic) so that it can be easily detected in case of leaks.

Answer your questions about liquefied petroleum gas

What is LPG?
